WVVA Students Take Learning to the Capitol for Career and Technical Education Day
West Virginia Virtual Academy (WVVA) students recently stepped beyond the virtual classroom and into the heart of state government during Career and Technical Education (CTE) Day at the Legislature at the West Virginia State Capitol.
Led by WVVA Career Readiness Education Coordinator, Jeremy Greene, students joined more than 350 students from across the state to celebrate and explore the impact of career and technical education.
Throughout the day, students experienced government and career pathways in action. They observed a live House floor session, met with West Virginia representatives and senators, and even visited with the Secretary of State, where they had the opportunity to use the official state seal stamp.
It was more than just a field trip. The experience connected classroom learning to real-world applications, and students saw firsthand how education, career readiness, and government intersect. They now have a better understanding of the opportunities available after graduation.
CTE Day highlighted the growing importance of career exploration across West Virginia. Through programs like these, students can build practical skills, earn industry credentials, and prepare for college, careers, or service.
For WVVA students, opportunities like this reinforce a powerful message: what they are learning today can directly shape their future tomorrow.
