Reflecting on an Inspiring Career and College Field Day

West Virginia Virtual Academy’s Career and College Field Day was a great success! The excitement and enthusiasm from both students and professionals were clear, creating an atmosphere filled with engagement and ambition.
Highlights of the Day:
- Engaging Workshops: Students participated in various workshops, covering topics from interview skills to goal setting. These sessions were not only informative but also interactive, allowing students to ask questions and receive personalized advice.
- Inspiring Speakers: We were privileged to have several industry leaders and representatives share their professional journeys and insights. Their stories of perseverance, adaptability and success were truly motivating.
- Interactive Activities: The workshop activities, including college selection tools and practical exercises, provided valuable takeaways. Students left with a better understanding of what to expect and how to prepare for their future endeavors.
- Networking Opportunities: The event facilitated valuable connections between students, professionals, and representatives. These interactions are invaluable, offering students a chance to build their network and gain insights into various career paths.
Student Feedback:
The feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive. Students have expressed how the event helped them gain clarity on their career goals and the steps needed to achieve them. As part of the conference scavenger hunt, students created raps based on the words of keynote presenter Nawar Shora. The work of Lairah Morgan, a 7th-grade student at WVVA, was particularly outstanding:
♫ “Mr. Nawar said don’t quit. – Ya, rise up, it’s a brand-new day, Chasing dreams hard, won’t let ‘em slip away. Obstacles come, but I’m ready to fight, got that fire in my soul, I’ll light up the night.” ♫
♬ “Don’t quit, don’t stop, keep climbing that hill, Every setback’s just a setup, stronger will to fulfill. When the world gets heavy, I’ll carry that weight, Victory’s in sight, I’m never too late.” ♬
Looking Ahead: As we reflect on this successful event, we are already looking forward to our spring career and college events as well as next year’s Career and College Field Day. We aim to build on our success and bring more opportunities and resources to our students. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this day noteworthy.
