FAQs

Technical FAQs

Do I need to have access to a computer to attend?

Yes. However, based on financial need and eligibility, WVVA may loan one computer per student and one printer per family to support the learning process. These computer systems are instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves the school. WVVA provides assistance with technical and software issues for loaner laptops and printers. Each family will need to secure their own internet service provider. In certain cases, based on financial need or other circumstances, WVVA may provide a stipend to offset the cost of the internet service. This determination will take place during the enrollment process.

What computer skills are required?

The Learning Coach needs to have at least basic computer skills. Use of the computer is an important part of the online school program. In the elementary grades, it is mostly the Learning Coach who interacts with the computer. Middle school and high school students are most successful if they have basic computer skills.

How do I get technical support?

WVVA families needing customer care or technical support for computers or the online school can call 866.512.2273 (select option 2).

What does the computer system loaned by WVVA include?

Computers loaned by WVVA follow the technical specs listed here.
